What Would You Like From Me?

Welcome to Summer Institute 2008. As your technology liaison, I'd like to hear about what you most want to learn. Based on your feedback, my June 30th meeting with you can incorporate a mini-lesson that meets most of your needs. I say most because we have to be democratic. Some of you are more computer savvy than me, while others are technology challenged; so we will go with the majority. I can help with PowerPoint, web resources, pod casting, and anything in between. What are your ideas? What are you most interested in learning?

I think just being able to do this is pretty cool. Will we be graded? I've never done a blog before...

Brad,
I would like to start a classroom blog for my fourth graders. Also, what is a podcast?

Hi Brad -
I'd like to learn how to do a blog with my students, is it possible to post an article/reading/assignment and have them respond?
Thanks!

Brad,

I am also very interested in podcasting. I am also interested in different ways I can communicate with the students via the computer.

Brad,

I would like to learn more about setting up a blog (including different components--also other blog sites you would recommend) and podcasting.

Thank You,
Laura

Brad, I'm excited about any types of practical applications of tech stuff. Podcasting, and appropriate and manageable (considering time constraints and random levels of kid access to technology) blogging strategies for high school kids would be ideal.

Brad,
I am interested in blogging with my classroom. What do I need to know? I am also interested in podcasting. What is it and how does it work? Thanks!

I am new to much of this, but I would like to know more about blogging with students and podcasting.

Brad,

I am interested in both a classroom
blog and podcasting. I also have access to a smartboard but have been unable to get my tech person to spend time training me on how to use it. (I need step by step directions as technology is a bit of a challenge for me.) Is there any way that you could help me with this?

Thanks, Candee

Brad,

It would be interesting to learn more about pod casting, creating a classroom blog, creating computerized tests (this may be new [?]), creating a slid show, digital year book or classroom year book, and other graphic techniques one could use as publishing tools with my students. Thanks. :)

Brad

I would like to learn about writing activities to do on the SmartBoard.

Overwhelmingly, it looks as if people are interested in hearing more about blogging and podcasting. I can help with that on Monday. Perhaps you could begin to set up your own blogsites, with my assistance. In addition, I could give you the basics on podcasting and where you can get the freeware necessary to start your own. For those of you that are interested in the SmartBoard, I have one in my own classroom that I use quite a bit. If we can’t find one at the Technology Center, maybe you could stop by during the upcoming school year.

Dear Brad,

Please excuse my tardiness on this blog. I have spent the past three days using E-Anthology. I already received two posts on my writing. As for the mini lesson, I am willing to learn anything you use. I have as strong understanding of computers and technology, yet I hope to learn much more.

Thanks for your time,

Jason

So, I am very excited to create and use a website for classes that would be interactive, like the ones we saw with the Alverno prof. I became more proactive last year with the online grading system we have (yes, archaic I understand now) but it was eye-opening. THIS however, is overwhelming right now, but I plan on "playing" and taking great advantage of what has been introduced. I just feel a bit out of my depth, even though I can see the possibilities, and want to use it all. So, practice, practice, practice. But I will say that getting the info in this medium, and with professionals who I can tap through the MWP is comforting and exciting. So, here we go...
