How's it Going?

Hello everyone! How is everything going in your new school year? How is implementing the ideas we learned at the institute going for you? Are your colleagues on board or are you hitting a brick wall trying to communicate your great ideas? I was pleasantly surprised and my fellow colleagues in 7th grade are going to try out the workshop approach with me! I also plan to implement and hold writing circles every Friday. Things are going great, I'd love to hear how things are going for you....when should we do our first face to face follow-up?

Continuing Support

After taking stock of Tuesday's Gallery Walk, a number of recurring themes surfaced. One of those was the idea of professional support beyond the Summer Institute. Would you be interested in having support after this class? What would be the ideal way to implement it? Should there be face-to-face meetings at mutually agreeable locations, perhaps host schools? When and how often would this support occur? What would the agenda be for each meeting? Are there other ways to provide support? What are your ideas?

Research Report

This past week, you were asked to search the internet and find writing resources that could be used in conjunction with your teaching. As a community of learners, it is important to share with others what we have learned. Please post an overview of a source you think is worthwhile. Explain some of its features and its usefulness to the writing process. Include the web address starting with www, not http, so that readers can copy and paste it into their address bars.

First Impressions

So far, so good...right? The beginnings of a new journey are often filled with excitement, eagerness, trepidation, and maybe even resistance. As you have probably started to realize, this journey will be like no other. What are your first impressions of the 2007 Milwaukee Writing Project Institute? Is it what you expected?
