My favorite children's author is Mo Willems! He writes the Piggie and Gerald series, the Pigeon series, and the Knuffle Bunny books. He is my favorite because his books are so engaging for young readers and I have seen many kids eager to learn to read because of his characters.

My favorite book by Mo Willems is I Will Surprise My Friend. This book is fantastic for reading aloud or shared reading lessons on reading with expression and it is hilarious!

My favorite author is Ursula K. LeGuin, because she has a deep sense of history. My favorite book is "Earthsea Chronicals" because she covers the history of a fascinating world.

My favorite author of children's literature is Patricia Pollaco because her books are moments in her life that she shares with us. I love knowing the background information and her inspiration for the book that I can share with my students. My favorite book of hers is The Keeping Quilt. I can relate to her story about quilt because my grandmother, aunts and mother make quilts and I love to hear the stories behind some of the fabric they use to make them.

Emily - I also love Mo Willems and use her books as mentor texts. The Piggie and Gerald series is so funny and great for some of those reluctant readers we have!

Cindy, I love Patricia Pollaco as well! I got to meet her at Reading Convention a few years ago and she signed a copy of my favorite book, Thank You Mr. Falker. I love that the book celebrates students overcoming challenges and dedicated teachers. I cry everytime I read it!

Cindy, it sounds like we have the similar interests in stories. Books that help us (whether students or ourselves) connect with our past are important for teaching and growing, at any age.
